COMBINING ART AND TECHNOLOGY IN THE NAME OF MUSICAL ACTIVISM.

Full Picture specializes in architecting cultural moments that strategically combine art + tech + advocacy. Google.org committed several million dollars to support the Equal Justice Initiative’s (EJI) work on racial justice and engaged Full Picture to raise awareness for the project and create an entry point for consumers to participate in the conversation surrounding America’s history of racial terror lynchings.

Full Picture led the development of what became a multi-platform initiative between Google and EJI by bringing in a powerful third party -- Grammy Award-nominated singer/ songwriter Andra Day, who donated her time and starpower in the name of musical activism.

We created high-impact visibility for the initiative through the following efforts:

  • Andra Day recorded a cover of Billie Holiday’s equal rights anthem, “Strange Fruit” in support of EJI

  • Arranged a special appearance for Andra Day and performance of “Strange Fruit” with Google + EJI visual assets at the 2017 Global Citizen Festival

  • Secured a live performance of "Strange Fruit" by Andra Day on the Daily Show with Trevor Noah

  • Produced a music video to raise further awareness of the project and serve as a legacy art piece for the Equal Justice Initiative

Full Picture was recently awarded the 2018 PRSA Big Apple Award and the 2018 Communicator Award for this campaign.
